How to Travel with Vision Pro

Traveling is one of the best uses for the Apple Vision Pro headset, which can be used on airlines and has a dedicated Travel Mode. Apple has released various support docs that contain crucial information on traveling with the Vision Pro, activating the built-in Travel Mode, and storing it when not in use.

How to Travel with Apple Vision Pro

The Vision Pro’s cover should be placed on it to protect the glass before packing it, but Apple advises customers to ensure there are no loose items around that could scratch the internal displays.

Apple suggests using the $200 Apple Vision Pro Travel Case, a soft padded backpack, or a “similar protective solution” to safeguard the device from collisions and excessive vibration. Apple’s Travel Case is quite large, thus it may be tough to transport as a carry-on due to the amount of space it consumes.

If the Vision Pro will not be used for a long period of time, it should be unplugged from the battery, and Apple recommends that the ZEISS Optical Inserts be packaged separately to avoid accidental detachment.

How To Use Vision Pro In Travel Mode

Travel Mode is specifically designed for utilizing the Vision Pro while in flight. To activate it via the Control Center, follow the steps below:

  • Look up and tap the arrow near the top of the screen to launch Control Center.
  • To view more options, tap on the Control Center button.
  • Tap the Travel Mode button.
  • Tap Turn on Travel Mode to confirm.

To exit Travel Mode, go back to Control Center and tap “Turn Off.”

Apple states that the Vision Pro cannot be set up on an airplane, and Personas are not available when Travel Mode is enabled.

Travel Mode Tips

According to Apple, users should adhere to the following requirements when utilizing Travel Mode:

  • Stay seated when Travel Mode is on, and remove the Vision Pro before standing up. When you enable Travel Mode, features that help you be aware of your surroundings are deactivated.
  • Take off the Vision Pro while taxiing, taking off, or landing. Remove it if there is turbulence during the trip.
  • Avoid staring out the airplane windows since it may impair the Vision Pro’s ability to recognize your surroundings.
  • If the material seems skewed or off-center, long-press the Digital Crown to center the view.

Storing Vision Pro

If the Vision Pro will not be in use for a time, Apple recommends completing the following steps:

  • Attach the cover on the Vision Pro to avoid dust accumulation or damage; however, make sure the cover is clean and clear of dirt.
  • Disconnect the battery.
  • Place the Vision Pro on a stable, flat surface, cover glass facing forward. Do not position the Vision Pro pointing downwards. Alternatively, place it in the Vision Pro Travel case.
  • The Vision Pro can tolerate temperatures ranging from -4º to 113ºF. It should not be stored in regions that surpass this limit.
  • Do not leave the Vision Pro in a parked automobile because temperatures can rise too high.
  • Do not expose the Vision Pro to direct sunlight for any length of time.
  • Ensure that the relative humidity where the Vision Pro is stored is between 0% and 95%.

In everyday use, Apple recommends that customers return the cover to the Vision Pro anytime it is not being worn. Apple also warns against placing the Vision Pro with the glass pointing downward and recommends using a polishing cloth rather than a rough or abrasive surface.

Picking up the Vision Pro requires two hands and should never be done with the Light Seal or Audio Straps.
